Chris Evans, from Natchitoches, Louisiana, has been selected as the second representative from Synod of the Sun to go on the USA Mission Experience in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, July 12-22, 2019. Chris has been Pines Presbytery PW Moderator for the last 2-3 years. She has been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Natchitoches for 39 years and PW Moderator there for at least 15 years.
She has served on their Session as an elder, sings in the choir, and has taught both children’s and adult Sunday school. She has moderated the PW circle Bible study on many occasions and plans and participates in mission of the church, currently Lunch on Us (weekly bag lunch give-away), and Operation Christmas Child.
Her community activities include serving on the board of the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches and co-directing its Third Grade Children’s Historical Tour each September. She supports Northwestern State University athletics and creative performing programs and serves on the board of Caroline Dorman Nature Preserve in Saline, LA.
Chris is a retired teacher with 36-years experience, mostly with elementary gifted students. She is married to Ed who is retired as Northwestern State University’s head athletic trainer. They are parents of 3 grown sons, 5 grandchildren, and 1 granddog.
Chris loves the fact that the USAME will be in upstate New York where women’s rights were first addressed. She loves history and is excited to get to see what is being done to help others in this area now and what is planned for the future.
Chris will be available to give presentations on her experience for two years
following this trip.
