Jackie Pacha, Executive Director of Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living (BVCIL) was a guest speaker at the PW Thank Offering Program at First Presbyterian Bryan, Texas in November of 2015. After the program BVCIL was encouraged by the PW at First Bryan to apply for a grant .Judith Jerry of the Creative Ministries Offering Committee, Presbyterian Women PC(USA), notified the Center they had been awarded a $25,000 Thank Offering grant for its Independence on the Move Initiative. This grant money will allow the Center to take their services to clients who are unable to come to the Center in Bryan, Texas. BVCIL’s mission is to promote the full inclusion and participation of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of community life. The Synod of the Sun Coordinating Team has been carefully stewarding funds entrusted to them, including some moneys with no restrictions or strings attached. At the SCT’s March 2016 meeting, the group chose to share those funds with others, beginning with 10% of the “string-free” money.
